SAME PLACE, NEW NAME  PRIME

511 W. 28th Street, New York NY 10001, 212.268.5105 http://primenightclub.com

First it was Quo, then after a while turned into  2 separate venues, Myst and Retox Rock Bar. Now under the Stewardship of the Gotham City Group ( owners of Suzy Wong's) the place is back to one venue with what seems like little to no change from its original incantation.  There's still the Bottle service, there still an air of "exclusivity" purported by the staff (beginning with the door) and apparently there still the familiar issues with service. Although we heard its a bit better than in the Quo days.

The place still looks outstanding, they still draw a good crowd and since their re-opening, have attracted some celebs. They have made an effort in bringing in top shelf DJ's as the main draw. All this effort in the hopes of reviving the West Chelsea lounge scene in an area occupied by mega-clubs.

The Website, is sparse, and tries in that way to be as minimalist as possible. It doesn't make the place intriguing in our opinion but comes across as slightly incomplete.  But then again, you don't frequent venues based on their website...

FEATURE Cachaça

Pronounced "KA SHA SA", Cachaça is made from sugar cane plant like rum. It is made from fresh sugarcane juice that's fermented and distilled. Cachaça is the national spirit of Brazil. It is also the key ingredient in Brazilian traditional cocktail, caipirinha.

Caipirinha
Pronounced 'KIE-PUR-REEN-YAH', this fresh, exotic cocktail is becoming as hot among international crowds as it is on Copacabana Beach. The traditional caipirinha blends Cachaça, sugar cane, lime juice and ice. Traditional Caipirinha is made with Cachaça, sugar, and crushed limes, served over ice. It is always muddled (crushed with a masher or the blunt end of a wooden spoon). Make sure to muddle in a shaker or a sturdy, non-breakable glass. You can also try replacing lime with about 1/2 cup of fresh tangerine, star fruit, passion fruit, peach, pear, pineapple, plum, orange, mango, grape, guava, figs, etc.
